Cellulite Reduction

SmoothShapes®

Based on six years of scientific development, SmoothShapes® featuring Photomology® technology is designed to offer a new and innovative way to treat cellulite, safely and effectively, and achieve long-lasting results.

The technology combines laser and light with mechanical manipulation to reduce the appearance if cellulite. Photomology utilizes two specific laser wavelengths to target the physical manifestations of cellulite, brittle fibrous setae and engorged fat cells. Collagen will also be remodeled so skin is smoother and tighter and fat cells are restored.

The Photomology will also stimulate the metabolic process to minimize the underlying cause of cellulite, such as edema, impaired blood circulation and decreased metabolism to restore tissue to a healthy state.

Mechanism of Action
Photomology™ treats cellulite by combining dynamic laser (915nm) and light (650nm) energy with mechanical methods of massage and vacuum. This proprietary combination of light energy and mechanical sources results in a greater therapeutic effect than the simple addition of individual components.

(Figure 1-4)

915 nm wavelength light penetrates into the hypodermis and is preferentially absorbed bylipids (see Figure 1-4). The energy absorbed by the lipids increases the temperature of the fat in the cell causing the fat to become liquefied.

(Figure 1-5)

650 nm wavelength light enhances permeability of the fat cell membrane and allows theevacuation of liquefied fat into the interstitial space (see Figure 1-5). In addition, this wavelengthstimulates collagen production, improves local blood and lymphatic circulation.

Pressure from the rollers assists the movement of the evacuated fat from the cells with intracellular fluid towards the lymphatic system. It stimulates lymphatic drainage and improves micro circulation. The size of the fat cells decrease and normal cell activity is restored. Vacuum enables consistent light penetration to tissue as well as mechanical massage (seeFigure 1-6).

(Figure 1-6)

In addition, both the 650 and 915nm wavelengths are responsible for producing other beneficial therapeutic effects such as improved blood and lymphatic circulation and improved metabolic activity at the cellular level. Exposure to these wavelengths also produces a mild inflammatory reaction that leads to new collagen production and deposition resulting in thicker dermis.
